It is not easy to keep waiting for things to happen
but often that is the only thing we can do. Bide
our time till the right opportunity comes by. Unfortunately
most of us are not blessed with the tenacity or
fortitude of the mind to believe that such a time
will come when everything will go our way. Those
few who have that strength or have cultivated it
remain in the right places till opportunity comes
knocking and they are then ready to grab it.

Someone
once rightly said ‘Success is all about being at the
right place at the right time’, someone else said more
rightly ‘Success isn’t about being at the right
place at the right time, it is about being at the right place
all the time’. |

|
That is something Cheeyan Vikram
knows only too well. You need not tell him about patience,
about perseverance or about belief in oneself. He
is a living example of all these qualities rolled
in one. Who else would have waited more than a decade
on the fringes firmly believing that his time will
come? He waited and Sethu came along. There was no
looking back. When Sethu happened there was no Cheeyan
Vikram, there was just Vikram and that man had nothing
to lose but 18 Kilograms which he did without hesitation.
But the story today is different. He is no longer
just another Vikram, he is the man who can pull masses
to theaters, he is a star and definitely has a lot
at stake each time he stands in front of the camera.

For
a star of his value to not have a release for nearly two years
can be a bit unnerving. It is not that he was out of work-
that is far from the truth. We all know that he went straight
to Bheema after Majaa but nearly two years after Bheema was
announced the uncertainty still remains. Will the movie hit
screens or will the legal disputes get the better of it, we
don’t know yet. |
|
It
would have been an easy option to panic, act like
the boy on the deck of a burning ship and jump into
the sea (off the project) and desperately wade for
any sailing vessel. There would have been vessels
aplenty that would have taken him aboard but would
they have taken him where he wanted to go. Vikram
waited serenely for the right script to come by and
how right he was in waiting. His fans might have been
getting edgy wanting to see their favorite on screen
as soon as possible but an uncompromising attitude
towards quality kept Vikram away from swaying to any
kind of pressure. We ourselves reported about many
offers that Vikram was reportedly receiving throughout
the troubled Bheema’s ‘in fits and starts’
shooting schedules.

Decisions are key in film industry and trust Vikram to make
the right ones. He was the one who decided that Sethu will
change the course of his career. He was the one who decided
that doing a movie like Kasi would only enhance his reputation
after an action entertainer like Gemini.
|
|
|
He was the one who had the courage
to do the role of an undertaker without a single dialogue
till the very end (Pithamagan). He knows how to make
the right decisions and that skill has come from the
experience of more than a decade waiting for the right
opportunity. Only he knows how hard he worked and
how long he waited to get to where he is and he won’t
jeopardize all that in a moment of desperation. And
so we have Kanthaswamy…
We are not proclaiming it a hit already, that would
be going too far. But the fact that we were literally
forced into writing a trailer review (by the quality)
for the first time after Sivaji (we thought we won’t
be doing that again) speaks volumes about the impact
it has had.

|
|
That
confirms that Vikram has made the right decision once again,
trusted the right person. Suddenly without even the release
of a movie, Vikram is the talk of the industry and remember
this is just the beginning.
Wishing yesterday’s Cheeyan and today’s Kanthaswamy
all the very best in all his future pursuits.
