Chiru’s
Stalin at Chennai box office –
initial report |
|
|
Telugu Superstar Chiranjeevi’s
‘Stalin’, which
was released yesterday, is expected
to be a box office hit, if the
initial reaction of the audience
in Chennai can be considered.
The Telugu film has so far created
a sensation in ‘Mayajaal’
multiplex, here with ten shows
running to packed houses yesterday,
Wednesday. A staff of the theatre
Mr Ansari opined that the film
is likely to be a super-hit
in the mould of ‘Chandramukhi’,
‘Gajini’, and a
few others, though it may not
attain the peak of Superstar
Rajni’s ‘Chandramukhi’.

Upon further query regarding
the reason behind the success
of Stalin, Mr Ansari stated
that though Chiranjeevi would
be the key person for the success
of the movie, Prakashraj, played
a stellar role with Trisha and
Kushboo rising to the occasion.
Mani Sharma’s music gave
an exemplary performance with
three songs in the movie already
topping the charts. The Managing
director of the theatre Mr Udip
echoed the sentiments of his
staff and said that the director
of the movie, A R Murugadoss
of Gajini fame saw to it that
the 2 hour 25 minutes movie
runs without losing its tempo
is a delight to the audience,
especially to the Chiranjeevi
fans. |

It
is indeed an incredible achievement
for a Telegu movie to open for
full houses in Chennai as the
film has been released only
in three theatres in the whole
of Tamil Nadu. According to
sources in Mayajaal, the distributors
bought the rights of the film
without any hesitation with
Chiranjeevi around and a few
distributors said that even
a child could bet on the success
of a Chiranjeevi movie. It remains
to be seen how far the expectations
are going to match the outcome
in the days to come. |

Sathyam
theatre Staff member Suresh
said the film ‘Stalin’
is running to packed houses
and is houseful till Sunday.
He, too, uttered, “Chiranjeevi
sells like hot cakes and with
Prakashraj around, the film
is expected to be a box office
hit. Like Mayajaal sources,
he agreed that the music is
bound to cast a spell over the
audience. Mani Sharma and his
instruments played a vital role
for the success of the movie,
he said and added hurriedly
that the director Murugadoss
needs a special compliment for
sustaining the interest of the
audience in the action-packed
sentimental movie. |
|
|
|
Upon
questioning on how he could predict
the super success of Stalin, he asserted
that the initial response was excellent.
Suresh, albeit in a lighter vein quipped
that the general media assessment
for ‘Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu’
was from poor to reasonable, but the
film is running with super success
in all the theatre and elsewhere too.
He shrugged and signed off. |
