Nadigar
Sangam’s stand against Rajni,
Kamal? |
|
It
has been around two months since the
new office bearers of the Nadigar
Sangam were elected. They have remained
strangely quite for this period. There
has been no announcement about what
their plans are for their term of
office. The silence has been a bit
uncharacteristic, considering the
people who have been elected and their
allegiances. One got a feeling that
something would surface sooner or
later. It has, and it is quite serious
and very interesting. |
|
|
The news is that the office
bearers have got together at
a secret meeting (no longer
secret) and have decided that
actors who choose to remain
aloof of the activities of the
association would get the same
cold shoulder treatment from
the association. The meaning
of this is that such artistes
will not have the backing of
the association if and when
they face a problem. Now, this
won’t seem very interesting,
but just wait for the list of
names that come in this category.

For quite a long time Kamal
has shown only passive interest
in the activities of the Sangam.
He has seldom attended the meetings
and has not been an integral
part of it, so to say. Add to
this the fact that he did not
cast his vote at the Sangam’s
election this time round. That
has really put off the office
bearers who have decided that
Kamal will not receive any support
from the Sangam.
Now the other name, Rajni. He
too has never been a very active
member of the association, appearing
for only very important functions
and not being part of any of
the decision making process
|
|
|
|
He
too abstained from voting at the recent
elections and this has put him out
off favour with the office bearers. |
|
|
These
are THE two names that have
been taken upon by the office
bearers for cold shoulder treatment.
But how long they will be able
to implement this is yet to
be seen. It is not going to
be easy to isolate such huge
stars without getting the public
against you and no one would
want that to happen. So it is
going to be a tight ropewalk
for the office bearers. They
might do well to look into history
where some similar attempts
have been made with very little
success. |
