Vijayakanth
says ‘bye’ to politics!! |

Captain
Vijayakanth, at the time when he took
to politics, was not a saleable hero.
It’s been long since he has
acted in a super hit movie. Some even
speculated that his waning film career
was a contributing factor to his political
forays. |
|
|
However,
as it happens only in Tamil
Nadu, his political victories
have given a new lease of life
to his sagging film career.
Many areas of Dharmapuri has
been sold instantly at the launch
itself. It's something new to
a 'Vijayakanth film.'
Following the footsteps of the
legendary MGR, Vijayakanth will
now be expected to use his movies
as a propaganda vehicle. MGR
had perfected the art of using
his films for making his symbol
and ideology popular. Whether
Vijayakanth attains the heights
of fame that MGR did is something
that we will have to wait and
watch. However, his vehicle
in that journey, is a tried
and tested one. |
|
|
With
the other mighty star who can usurp
Captain being silent, Vijayakanth
may after all be on his way to Fort.
St. George. Remember, politics is
full of accidents. Let history record
that we predicted it first. |
|
His
political gains have also made
sure that his films will be
free from the hassles of narrow
campaigns that target movies.
His latest movie, Sabari, is
one in which he plays a doctor.
Surprisingly, he has left politics
out. While the movie will feature
Vijayakanth as upright doctor
who fights for the good against
social evils, and for the first
time after a long it will avoid
explicit political references.
It appears that Vijayakanth
himself told the director Suresh,
this. Suresh also revealed that
Captain nowadays goes through
all newspapers and magazines,
and scans peoples’ daily
life problems. (Ah...now got
the secret behind Captain’s
assembly voices.) And he also
assured that public’s
expectation from Vijayakanth
will be certainly fulfilled
in this film. |

A
group of make up men, who earlier
worked for Surya’s Gajini
have been specially flown in
from Mumbai to give Vijayakanth
a new look. The movie will be
the first in which the actor
plays a doctor. His name is
Sabari Vasan in the movie. In
a typical good vs. bad storyline,
the director is confident that
he can explore the dichotomy
well to provide a racy thriller.
This movie supposedly is a tribute
to the doctors who work in remote
villages for very little monetary
reward. Realistic sets, which
cost over Rs.20 lakhs for the
photo shoot alone, have been
created for the first time. |
|
|
Such
expensive photo shoots are unheard
of, in a Captain movie. To lighten
the seriousness, the movie also has
Jyothirmayi as the heroine. So much
is the straightforwardness of this
story that, it does not even have
a punch line. |

Tail
piece:
Added to the list of
firsts, here comes the latest.
Vijayakanth's DMDK party members
are celebrating his birthday,
which falls tomorrow (24th August).
Like ever before, City walls
have been decorated with multi-coloured
posters and paintings. Adding
glamour to the glitz, top eveningers
in the city has come out with
a special supplement on his
birthday which was flooded with
greeting ads for Captain. All
the best guys!! |
