Kamal’s
Avatar starts today with 100 elephants… |

The
much awaited visual extravaganza of
the year ‘Dasavatharam’
will kick off from today, Friday,
August 18, 2006 at Muttukadu, near
Neelangarai in the ECR. As you might
well remember – the fastest
news carriers that we are –
we carried a report on the commencement
of the shoot in our earlier article.
Dasavatharam will see Kamal Hassan
in 10 different roles which are unseen
so far in his vibrant career. |
|
|
Asin
will play his lead lady while
Bollywood hottie and heartthrob
of millions of movie buffs,
Mallika Sherawat is roped in
for a negative role. With irresistible
features and not to mention
Kamal in 10 roles, the movie
is slated to be the biggest
attraction of this year.
An inch-by-inch replica of the
Airavatheeswarar temple, originally
in Darasuram in Kumbakonam is
constructed in Muttukkadu by
noted art director Samir Chanda
where the shooting commences
today. |
|
|
The
highlight of the set being the painstaking
effort of 500 technicians sacrificing
their sleep for 15 days at a stretch
to construct the set to resemble the
temple, covering every minuscule detail
including the intricate crafted patterns
of the gopurams. The movie was earlier
planned to be shot at the original
temple and later the decision was
changed resulting in the construction
of the set, an industry source revealed.
Gauthami heads the costume designing
department – (earlier the sole
responsibility of Kamal’s costumes
was ex Sarika, who incidentally is
this year’s prospective national
award winner) and holds responsibility
of donning 10 different Kamal in one
single movie. We hope Gauthami comes
out with flying colors in her new
avatar. K.S. Ravikumar heads the direction
of this most exciting movie bonanza
of the year. |

Kamal’s
intro!!
We have all seen Tamil movies
and no other scene that creates
more excitement than the one
in which the hero makes his
introductory appearance. What
more, if the hero is in the
league of the top stars, then
the audience will go wild. ‘Intro’,
as these scenes are fondly called
by the fans provides the initial
impact on which a movie lifts
off into a higher plane. We
have seen all kinds of ‘Intros’,
crackers bursting, a song replete
with lyrics bordering on heroism,
a stunning fight sequence followed
by a punch line, we have seen
it all. |
|
|
|
But
wait, the man who has never failed
to surprise us is just about to give
us of the most stunning and grand
‘Intros’ ever seen in
Tamil cinema, or should we say world
cinema. Eager to know what it is all
about, keep reading… |

Kamal
is set to appear as typical
Brahmin for the schedule in
Muttukadu today. It is the proposed
intro scene for this character
that is making the news. According
to reports, director K.S. Ravikumar
plans to draft in an unprecedented
100 elephants for this scene.
That’s right, no typo
errors here, it is 100 elephants.
Where will they come from? One
does not know, but it is sure
that once Kamal and K.S.R decide
upon something, they get it
done.

100
elephants; 25 doctors; 150 caretakers |
|
This
is not the list of animals and people
who will be going to Mudumalai this
year for the annual elephant rejuvenation
programme. This is the list of those
who will be present at Muttukadu.
25 doctors will accompany the elephants
to determine their health condition
and make sure that nothing goes wrong.
They will be assisted by the 150 caretakers.
The 25 doctors will reportedly issue
certificates of fitness for each and
every elephant before the shooting
commences. At the end of the shooting,
they will again assess the elephant
for any telltale signs of maltreatment
or torture. |
