Dasavatharam
– Airavatheeswarar temple
comes to Neelangarai!! |
|

|
We
were the first to tell you about Dasavatharam’s
first shot. We had reported on how
it was to be filmed at the historic
Airavatheeswarar Temple in Darasuram,
just outside Kumbakonam. |
|
|
Well
that is still true – except,
that marvel of ancient architecture
is now being recreated in Chennai
and the shooting will happen
at the new Airavatheeswarar
Temple.
As we had mentioned, there are
a lot strict regulations that
go with obtaining permission
to shoot at the Temple. Napolean,
as reported earlier, had played
a huge role in helping the crew
get the requires clearance from
the ministry concerned. The
permission that was in fact
obtained, it appears, will not
be put to use. |

|
Locals
from Darasuram, who are intensely
proud of their great Temple,
have voiced serious concerns
about the shooting. Many were
against it. KS Ravikumar, the
director, also considered the
prospect of crowd management
becoming a hassle. Since it’s
a Kamal movie, his fans will
throng the place to have a look
at the star. That would only
add to the already existing
problems. So after careful consideration,
the venue has been shifted to
Chennai. |

Renowned
art director, Samir Chanda came
down from Mumbai with a crew
of 300. He will recreate every
piece of detail of the historic
Temple in Chennai. His work
is renowned for its flair and
perfection. He is also setting
the scene up for Manirathnam's
Guru. He has worked in such
blockbusters as Rang De Basanti,
Krrish, Mumbai Express etc. |

Initially,
Campa Cola grounds in Guindy
was considered for this purpose
as movies like Baba, Anniyan
and Virumaandi were shot here.
However, since the size of the
venue wasn't enough, it was
rejected. Now, a 30-acre land
near Neelangarai is being considered
for recreating the Chola Architecture.
The process though, is not all
settled. The date of Aug 18
is a stiff target and it all
depends the art director Chanda.
He is said to be busy and the
details of the venue are also
becoming a bit of a trouble.
Let's hope Kamal and his desire
for perfection see this through. |
