Shriya
Reddy – the dusky damsel inside
the lady villain
Shriya
Reddy the spirited twenty-three years
old is a multifaceted personality.
A former VJ with SS Music is very
popular with the younger generation.
She comes across as the bold, beautiful
and confidant girl for whom sky is
not the limit. Former Indian wicket
keeper Bharat Reddy’s second
daughter sure does know how to tread
the ropes of the glitter world.
She was recently acclaimed for
her creditable performance in
Thimiru. She has also proved
her mettle in other South Indian
films.
Though the character that Shriya
played in Thimiru had more of
anti-heroine element, she carried
it with élan. While apprehensive
about her role initially, she
later found the subject interesting
and innovative. When asked is
she would do more of such roles,
she replied in the negative
at least for another couple
of years. She is firmly against
being typecast.
Offbeat looks
Shriya is not a girl who would
worry about her dusky complexion.
She is in fact proud of her
looks. Complexion was never
an issue with her. With a
global trend of dusky damsels
ruling the glam world, people
have grown to appreciate different
looks. Some people feel that
Shriya looks like an amalgamation
of Smita Patil and Nanditha
Das.
Family
Shriya’s family has no
connections with film industry
what so ever. Her father Bharat
Reddy did not approve of her
entering films but is impressed
with her performance in Thimiru
now. Her entry into the tinsel
world was through a friend who
took her to the audition for
SS Music. She was confident
about her voice and it was her
voice, which helped her start
her career as VJ with SS Music.
Her
role model
Smita Patil is the role model
for Shriya in films. She started
her career in a Malayalam film
called Black with Mammootty.
She got good reviews as a debutant.
She is eagerly waiting for her
next release in Tamil called
‘Veyil’ with Bharath
directed by Vasanthabalan. She
is confident that Veyil would
reveal a totally different Shriya
to the audience. Her first Telugu
film Amma Cheppandhi with Suhasini
and Saravanan has been just
released and her performance
has been much talked about.
She
wants to try out different and varied
kind of roles. She is in fact going
through a lot of scripts in different
languages but nothing so far has excited
her. She should also remember that
a long absence would eventually erase
her from the memory of audience. Her
favourite portrayal on screen would
be that of bubbly and cheerful girl
like the Yash Chopra heroines.
Glamour
and glitz
Shriya has no qualms about wearing
such outfits as long as they
are artistically filmed. She
knows the type of dresses that
would look good on her or accentuate
her beauty. As long as she has
the freedom to design her clothes,
she has no issues about her
wearing any of such outfits.
According to her the end product
i.e. Shriya should look good.
That’s what matters the
most.
Love
and boy friends
Shriya has been raised in such
a friendly and healthy atmosphere
that she does not need to conceal
her emotions if she falls in
love. She views love as the
ultimate friendship and camaraderie
that exists between two souls.
Unfortunately, no one has approached
her till now; perhaps it is
to do with the character that
she played in Thimiru. People
have a tendency to relate her
to her roles in films. She is
very candid when she says that
she does not have a steady boyfriend
till now and is waiting for
the right person to spice up
her life. Any takers???
