Rajini to get 30 crores for Sivaji
Two of the highest paid stars of Indian
cinema – Rajinikant and Chiranjeevi
are from Tamil and Telugu. Rajinikanth would
get Rs. 15 crore plus a share in the profits
of his forthcoming film, Sivaji, totaling
in all to a whopping Rs. 30 crores. Put
this next to what the highest paid Hindi
star, Aamir Kahn gets- just Rs.7 crores
and you know it is peanuts.

Look
at the number of theatres also down
South. If the total number of theatres
in the entire country is 12,900, then
in just the South there are more than
7000 theatres, which is more than
half the total amount. While we might
be producing more number of films
every year, and yet go unnoticed,
but now, thanks to Rajnikanth's mega
blockbuster Chandramukhi, the country
is now sitting up and taking note
of this enigmatic industry that enjoys
such a rate of success within its
territory and yet goes unnoticed elsewhere. |

|
Well,
like they say, it never takes a winner to
lie low for a long time. Chandramukhi might
have created a strong in road for the South
Indian film industry, but this is just the
beginning. With the recognition that Anniyan,
Kadhal and Pudupettai are receiving in even
the international markets, looks like South
Indian cinema has finally arrived. Let the
good times roll! |

Krrish's
entry
The comparison is based on the releases
in 2005. However, this is not definitive
and may change, since Hrithik's Krrish
is creating waves at the box-office
all over the country. At the same
time, one should remember that South
India's most expensive film Sivaji
is under production, slated for a
release soon and so is Kamal Hassan's
Dasavatharam, a film which is expected
to release in two languages.• |
