Heirs’
march towards stardom. Will they succeed? |

Sons
of three big names in the industry are making
their debut this season and the whole industry
is watching out for a hot star to emerge.
But will they turn out to be hot stuffs?
That is a big question. |

Prithvi
Pandiarajan
Let us first take Prithvi, comedian
Pandiarajan’s son. Well, he
is going to make his debut with GV
Films’ Kaivandha Kalai. Pandiarajan
too is there with his gang of sidekicks—Vinoo
Chakaravarthy, Pandian and Seetha.
Remember the Pandiarajan hit Aan Paavam?
It is the same gang. Kaivandha Kalai
has a comedy based story and it looks
like Prithvi too is going to make
you laugh. Like father, like son?
As a mascot of good luck, they have
roped in Malavika too, in an item
number. Chitthiram Paesudhedi has
certainly propped up her market. |
|
|
Though
the son of Pandiarajan, no concession was
made to Prithvi. “I have to go by
the word of the director. I know I have
no experience but, watching father’s
movies has taught me a lot,” says
Prithvi modestly yet with a certain confidence.
Can this guy outdo his father in the industry?
Only time can tell. |

Vasu
Prashanth
The next heir to make the debut performance
this season is Prashanth, P Vasu’s
son. Once Vasu completes his present
commitments, he will take up a project
to launch his son. He already has
a story and name for the film—Repeattu.
Symbolic, eh, taking a word from a
song from the super hit Chandramukhi?
As there is already a Prashanth, Vasu
may give his son a new screen name.
Kamala Deepika, current Ms.Chennai,
has been selected to pair with the
junior Vasu. |

Shanthanoo
Bhagyaraj
Bhagyaraj, the veteran, is not far
behind. He has already launched his
daughter Saranya, and now, he is getting
his son Shanthanoo, ready on the lauch
pad with Sakkara Katti. The movie
is directed by none other than Kalaa
Prabhu, son of Kalaipuli Dhanu. The
shooting kicked off this month. All
the big shots of the industry were
there for the puja of this film. And
guess who is scoring the music for
this film? A R Rahman! Lucky guy indeed,
Shanthanoo. |

Star
stuff and a bit of luck
In the past, not all the heirs could
make it big. Bharathi Raja thought
that his screen magic could push his
son to the top but Tajmahal did nothing
to Manoj. A couple of more films and
Manoj disappeared. The same was the
case with Dushyanth, Sivaji Ganesan’s
grandson. His debut film Success was
a total flop! A couple of films more
and the guy went back to his family
business. |
|
|
|
And
Satyaraj is doing all he could sell his
son to the moviegoer but his antics don’t
seem to be working. A few more flops could
undo his son’s career.
It is not so easy nowadays to sell a star,
no matter what his or her pedigree is. He
must have star stuff and a little bit of
ol’ luck. |
