An introduction…
I did my theater and acting training in Delhi with NK Sharma’s group. Back home in Mumbai, my love for the art urged me to explore various options in acting. That’s when, by god’s grace, I got an opportunity to be a part of Sarabham.

How did you bag a part in Sarabham?
God’s grace and pure timing... I learnt CV Kumar sir had been looking for an actress to do the lead in Sarabham for months. So I had sent him my pictures and he called me for an audition. CV sir and director Arun Mohan liked my audition and felt I’d fit the part pretty well. That’s how I bagged the role.
So, was it the passion or the opportunity that pushed you to take up the role?
It was definitely the passion to perform that urged me to grab the movie opportunity. Hadn’t it been for the passion, I wouldn’t even have taken my theater career so seriously. My theater experience made me a better actress and Sarabham seemed a good platform to showcase myself as a performer.

What can we expect from Sarabham?
It’s an edge of the seat thriller and if I give you even the smallest detail, it might ruin the entire experience. So I’m going to hold back. But, I can assure you that Sarabham will keep you engaged throughout.
What do the South film makers look for from freshers like you, when you audition for a part?
There are so many brilliant talents produced by the Tamil industry, who are now the pride of Indian Cinema. Tamil movies generally have very strong content and the makers always look for solid performers. So when the makers here audition for actors they look beyond the physical looks, for capabilities to perform well.
When Arun Mohan, the director of Sarabham tested me for the role, I guess he looked for my ability to grasp the character well and fit into the part.
Tamil movies generally have very strong content
There have been and still are so many actresses coming from the North and making their debuts here. Why is Tamil Cinema a good place to start?
As I said, Tamil cinema gives a lot of importance to the content, which in turn provides the actors with a lot of scope to perform. The industry is also highly professional in terms of working. They know what to get from an actor and they make sure the actors give their best. It is sort of an extraordinary training ground for new comers.
Have you watched any Tamil films?
Yes I have. I recently watched Soodhu Kavvum, Pizza and all of CV Kumar sir’s films. All his films are the finest examples of Tamil movies with strong content and no wonder they are getting remade in all other languages. In fact, for a newcomer like me, who hasn’t watched many Tamil movies before, these films do create very strong impressions.
Now I’m really proud to start my career under the esteemed banner of CV Kumar sir’s Thirukumaran Entertainment and also with a director as exceptional as Arun Mohan.
