COMMUNICATION WORKERS' STRIKE 2008
300,000 employees of the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) began an indefinite strike on 2008. They protested against government’s plan to sell off 30 percent of the company’s shares and shed 100,000 jobs through a so-called voluntary redundancy scheme.
