PINNEYUM MOVIE REVIEW CLICK TO RATE THE MOVIE

Adoor Gopalakrishnan is undoubtedly one of the few internationally acclaimed Indian directors. He is a five time winner of the National Award for Best Director. After 'Oru Pennum Randu Aanum' released in 2008, he is back with 'Pinneyum' having Dileep and Kavya Madhavan in the lead.
 

The plot of the movie is similar to the real life story of Sukumara Kurup, the most wanted criminal in Kerala. In 1984, an innocent man named Chacko who bore resemblance with Kurup was strangled to death and burned in his car by Kurup to fake his own death and claim the insurance amount. The movie Pinneyum gives a strong message that greed destroys life and happiness.
 

Adoor Gopalakrishnan is known for his making style and Pinneyum follows the same pattern. The screenplay has a slow pace, but that is something one should expect from an Adoor film.
 

The characters are very realistic and seem handpicked from remote villages in Kerala and they succeed in providing a nostalgic feel. But the director fails to be realistic when comes to dialogues and dialogue delivery. The words and delivery style used are theatrical and dramatic.
 

The cinematography by M J Radhakrishnan is normal and there are no gimmicks added to color the movie. The music by Bijibal is soulful and helps to transfer the mood of the movie to the audience.
 

Kavya Madhavan conveys her emotions better through her expressions than her dialogues and has performed neatly. Baby Akshara, Indrans and Nedumudi Venu carry out their roles in a fine way, but Srinda disappoints when it comes to handling her character effectively.
 

The takeaways of  the movie are the sequences showing family bondage and the story. But a better execution would have made this flick a memorable one
