Ajithkumar
made his screen debut in Amaravathi. He had worked
in the advertising industry before joining films.
He soon became the preferred hero for romantic
films. His early films stressed his image as the
young lover faced with difficult situations. His
most memorable film of this genre is of course,
Kadhal kottai which also marked the entry of Devayani.
Kadhal kottai was a runaway hit and it catapulted
Ajith to the top slot. Then came Amarkalam, Mugavari
and Vaali. His superb performance in Vaali proved
his versatility.
.With the accent shifting to action-oriented
stories, Ajith once again proved his mettle.
Dina, Red and Citizen have tried to showcase
him as the toughie. He even added a few inches
to look like the typical don. But somehow, most
of these films failed to evoke popular applause.
His G last year was a return to the romantic
theme. But the film did not do well partly because
of an insipid screenplay and also because Ajith’s
screen presence lacked lustre. His much-awaited
release this year will be Godfather.
Hailing from a simple middle-class family, he
had a traditional upbringing. He entered advertising
and did some modeling. Filmdom just happened.
He has never had the trappings and airs of the
usual industry heroes. He has never been in
the rat race and is happy to be doing meaningful
films. He is committed and thoroughly professional.
He never wastes his time even in shot break.
He shoots some unexceptional features in the
break time.
He
shoots some unexceptional features in the break
time. Such a focused approach could be attributed
to Ajith’s training as a race driver. He
is passionate about car racing and has even participated
in international competitions. Yet he wears his
talents lightly and comes across as an affable
and pragmatic person. His infamous spat with another
hero through the print medium was just an aberration.
An intensely private person, he is married to
the beautiful Shalini who worked with him in Amarkalam.
Ajith has recently been signed on by AVM for their
next film, Tirupathi.
Sadha will be the heroine and Perarasu
will be the director. He has lost several kilos
and looks the fit and strapping Ajith of about
five years ago. He is also working in Paramasivan.
We are sure that these two films will definitely
prop up his career graph to move up. Best of luck,
mate.
