Though Captain hadn’t wowed
anyone or scored any major film victories
during the 2006 season, he caused
quite a few eyebrows to rise when
he conquered the Vridhachalam constituency
– which was considered to be
the bastion of the PMK - during the
elections. Surprised by Vijaykanth’s
party’s performance, the current
Chief Minister praised him to the
skies.
This
may have more than made up for the caustic remarks
of the former Chief Minister, whose sarcasm, if
unkind, brought ample publicity. In the cinematic
arena, he did feature in Perarasu and Dharmapuri,
neither of which did well at the theaters. All
is not lost; he has lined up his Sabari for Pongal
release in the coming year.
