Storyline:
The
movie is a remake of the Telugu movie, Varsham
which was a big hit. Debutant director Rajkumar
has remade the film without deviating even an
inch from the original. It is a love story in
an action-packed pace. Although the story is familiar,
the screenplay is different which makes it appealing.
Review
The
movie opens with the kidnapping of the famous
actress, Shailaja(Shreya) by the villain Deva(Rahul
Dev) and his gang. Her father(Kalabhavan Mani)
solicits the help of Arjun(Jeyam
Ravi) who works in a quarry
to rescue her.
Arjun
readily agrees as he needs the money to save his
dying uncle. There is also another reason. Arjun
and Shailaja had been in love but Mani throws
water on their marriage plans as he decides to
marry her off to Deva lured by his wealth.
Enters the movie producer(Pyramid
Natarajan) who impressed by Shailaja’s beauty
and talent casts her as a heroine in his movie.
Shailaja’s father, laps up the offer, calls
off the wedding and moves to Chennai living off
his daughter’s dreams. This part of the
story is told in flashback and rest of the story
shows how Arjun rescues Shailaja and marries her.
Jeyam
Ravi’s performance
is improving with every movie. This role of
the angry young man sits well on his broad shoulders.
His talent in action sequences is really stunning.
His body language is just perfect. Shreya, who
has played the role that Trisha did in Telugu,
has won our hearts with her sculpted looks.
She is surely the face to watch out for in the
future.
Other characters in the movie have also done
a creditable job especially Kalabhavan Mani
and Rahul Dev. Vadivelu’s comedy is not
anything to write home about.
Kudos to director Rajkumar
for coming out with a neat package. He has worked
as an assistant to Charan. He has retained the
flavour of the original while presenting to
the Tamil audience. Devi Sri Prasad’s
music is just passable. The dance choreography
for Nee varumbothu is superb.
The movie which is produced by S.P.B.Charan,
will surely be a gala offering for the youngsters!
