In an interview given to a Tamil weekly, Shankar has opened up about Sivaji.

“Sivaji coming my way was a sweet shock for me. When I was expecting to do a movie with Rajini, it never worked out. I have been waiting for six years. And finally when I was not hoping for anything, comes this project. I am happy that I am doing Sivaji after Anniyan.”

“The expectations are very high. I am thrilled and at the same time apprehensive. It’s like doing a combo of high jump and long jump at the same time. We are taking extra care in making each and every frame a grand one. This will definitely turn out to be an excellent Rajinikanth movie”

And finally when enquired about Aishwarya Rai, the director affirmed, “Aishwarya Rai is not there in the project”. At last, the million dollar question is answered.
