S
J Surya created news with his film, Vaali.
The story of a man besotted with his brother’s
wife was new to Tamil cinema. Then came
Kushi with its overdose of glamour. His
next film, New,
aroused sentiments of anger and awe. The
film, supposedly depicting a mother-son
relationship, was laced with sexually suggestive
dialogues and sequences. It got him into
controversies with Censor Board. He has
had to face a slew of court cases culminating
in the |

|
High Court ordering a stay on screening
the film. His next film was titled BF and
after facing the wrath of activists, he
changed it to A.Ah.
The film did not do well despite the hype.
The publicity hoarding for his next film,
Kalvanin
Kadhali got him into
another round of wrangling. But, the man
does not seem to tire. He spits fire when
he says that after KK, he will be directing
the two hot stars today, Vijay
in Puli and Simbu in A/C. We grant that
S.J.Surya has powerful creativity. So, he
does not need to clothe it in unnecessary
elements of sex and glamour. |
