Review : Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu
Gautham Menon always gets the best out of Harris
The pair of Gautham
Menon and Harris Jayaraj has hit the bull’s
eye again. Following Minnale and Kakka kakka, the
duo seems to be ready to rock the audience with
top notch stuff in Vettaiyadu villaiyadu. |

1.
Karka Karka (Devan, Tippu, Nakul, Andrea)
It is a typical Harris Jeyaraj song with western
percussions and unique blend of English sentences.
The song is a peppy number. Lyrics of Thamarai
describe the hero with a eulogy from pallavi to
sharanam - “Thupakkiyum Thottavaithan Kadalithan,
Endralum Kaaki Satyaithan Kaipidithan, Than Savai
Sattaipayil Vaithu Engayum Selkinran”. The
words and the well tailored music are sure to
stir the youth. Devan’s voice resembles
the number in ‘Naan Penna Nee Paper’
of Pancha Thanthiram. Andrea has given additional
weight with her voice. Tippu and Nakul’s
voices are used as a swathe. |

2.
Partha Mudhal (Bombay Jayshree, Unni Menon)
After Vaseegara and Ondra Renda, it is now Partha
Mudhal a love duet by Bombay Jeyashree and Unni
Menon. Jeyashree’s deep and sonorous voice
captures the romantic mood with great feeling.
This song has beautifully orchestrated Indian
classical music like Veena, Nadaswaram and a change
of pace with drums. It showcases Harris’
brilliance. Partha Mudhal would surely be liked
by all sections because of its unique combination
of romantic lyrics and fast paced rhythm.

3. Manjal Veyil (Hariharan, Vijay, Nakul)
Hariharan
lifts Manjal Veyil to stratospheric heights
with his flawless rendition. His passionate
singing in the song which describes the
ladylove makes it remarkable. Guitar and
Saxophone form the main stay of orchestration
and it catches the mood of the song well.
The blending of three voices and the closing
chorus is awesome. |

4.Uyirilae
(Mahalaxmi, Srinivas)
A slow paced melodious track by Mahalaxmi
and later joined by Srinivas is a soothing
number with heartbeat sound in the background.
The words can be clearly followed without
a karaoke. Music has been blended in between
after the verses or end of line and this
makes the song more comfortable for the
listeners. A number exclusive for melody
seekers but passed over by Gana bystanders.
5.
Nerupae (Faranco, Sholar Sai, Sowmya Ray)
Nerupae opens with the husky voice of Sowmya.
It appears to be a hip and happening song.
Faranco’s voice modulation is bubbly
and the real stealer of the show is Sowmya
whose voice resembles that of Malgudi Shuba.
Her energetic and full throated singing
add fizz to ‘Nerupae Sikki Mukki Nerupae’.
The song with hot words might sizzle the
young crowd.

The album has not let down expectations. It is
the usual mix by Harris. However, Bombay Jeyashree’s
contribution and the beautiful lyrics by poetess
Thamarai are the greatest assets to the album.
Harris once again proves his mastery in orchestration
and the audio will surely be a hit like Minnale
or Kakka Kakka.
