Music Review : Aaru
aaru-surya with trisha

The movie has an apt title as it is the sixth movie for Hari as director. The duo of Surya and Trisha has come together after the movie Mounam Pesiaydhrey, which was Trisha’s first movie. For the first time, director Charan has turned producer under his banner, Gemini Productions.
Surya is riding on the wave of success of Ghajini and Trisha is making a comeback after her sojourn in Telugu. Devi Sri Prasad, the prominent name in Telugu industry has scored the music for this movie. The movie has got some foot tapping numbers and the voices of the singers are very energetic.

1) Dhrogam Dhrogam: (Hariharan)
A fast paced song! It is the result of the efforts of Hari and Hari – director has written the lyrics as well. The song is an emphatic response to feelings of betrayal. Hariharan’s silken voice has added grace to the rhythmic tempo.
Rating: 7.5/10

2) Freeya Vudu: (Jassie Gift, Grace, Karthikeyan, Mukesh, Vadivelu)
A mix of rap and dapanguthu! This song can be said as the best song of the album. The list of the singers is long but Jassie Gift’s voice is captivating. Grace of Cheena Thana has struck the right rapport in this song. Vadivelu’s voice appears in interludes but is not effective.
Rating: 8/10

3) Nenjam Ennum: (Srinivas, Kalpana)
A soft song with unique mix of percussion! It’s nice to hear Srinivas’ gentle voice giving the right touch of moody charm to the song. Kalpana has provided good support. The use of thavil is unique and kudos to Devi sriprasad for his attempt.
Rating: 7/10

4) Pakkathe: (Tippu, Sumangali)
A melodious song! The song is just a new version to Kadhal Valarthen song of Manmathan. Tippu with his soothing voice has added gloss to this song. Tippu has outsmarted Sumangali with his voice. Devi Sri prasad’s orchestration is quite interesting. He has come out with a fusion song. The song is a boon for melody lovers!
Rating: 7.5/10

5) Soda Bottle: (Shankar Mahadevan, Saaki, Mukesh)
A dapanguthu number! This song will be the talk of the town as was Tirunelveli Halwa Da of Sami. The song written by Na. Muthukumar is a rustic verse in glory of the popular culture and his imagery is interesting. It’s just a cake walk for Shankar with his energetic voice. Saaki as well as Mukesh have provided the required momentum to the song. Devi Sri Prasad has given the right kind of music to satisfy the audience.
Rating: 8/10

6) Thottutae: (Kathik, Sunitha Sarathy)
A fast romantic song! Devi Sri Prasad has come out with his own style of music, a fast song which is accompanied by sprightly beats. Sunitha Sarathy of Yakkai Thiri fame lacks the energy which she provided in that song. Karthik as usual has done his job perfectly.
Rating: 7/10

Overall Rating:
Altogether, Aaru songs are ready to rock the theaters and Devi Sri Prasad is expected to have a good future in Kollywood also.
Overall Rating: 7.5/10
