The
onscreen chemistry between glamorous Nayanthara
and Vijay in the ‘Kodambakkam Area’
number made it a stupendous hit beyond imagination.
Now, all eyes are on the beautiful star in Villu
where she pairs opposite Vijay for the first
time ever. The star who transformed herself
from pretty girl-next-door to sizzling sex siren
overnight is sure to have more surprises up
her sleeve for her fans in this film. The last
year had her in a spate of controversies. Behindwoods
caught up with her and discovered that nothing
can dim this sparkling star’s shine as
she gets ready to cast her spell once again
in Villu.

BW: How do you feel being paired opposite Vijay
for the first time?
Nayanthara:
I feel very good. I really like his movies and
his acting prowess. He is a thorough professional
on the sets and is very dedicated. He does not
talk much but is a good friend.
What kind of
role do you play in Villu?
I can’t
reveal much but my role is cute and bubbly and
a mix of glamour and homeliness.
It has been
said that during the shooting of Villu, you
and Vijay had a rocking time with Vadivelu.
Can you share those lively times?
Vadivelu is a
good actor and has a great sense of comic timing.
You tend to laugh when you watch his mannerisms
and when he speaks. He is very energetic.
Vijay has double
roles in Villu. Can you tell us something about
his character in the film.
Sorry, I am not
supposed to reveal anything on that. However,
it will be a stylish movie and will have everything
that Vijay fans expect from him. It will be
packaged well.
This is the
first time you are working with director Prabhu
Deva. How did you find the experience?
Prabhu Deva is
a very tough taskmaster and a perfectionist,
he very keenly observes even the smallest of
expressions. He knows how to handle artistes
well and will extract the best from an actor
without the person even realising it. He takes
interest in all departments, I have never seen
a director doing all this for a movie. Whether
it’s the artiste’s look, references,
costumes, editing, he looks into everything.
Any actor who has acted under him will want
to do another film with him.
|
Prabhu Deva is a great dancer. Did you find
it difficult handling the steps he choreographed?
He
did not actually choreograph any of the
songs in Villu, his assistants did. However,
he was always there on the sets and would
make suggestions. These small things will
create magic onscreen.
You have
been called a lucky mascot for Super Star
Rajinikanth and featured in 3 films continuously
with him. How do you feel about it?
I
feel very lucky about it since not everyone
gets a chance like this. I am really happy. |
"Prabhu
Deva
did
not actually
choreograph
any
of the songs
in
Villu"
|
|
Most actresses would also like to act with Kamal
Haasan. Do you have any such plans?
If
some offer comes up, I may take it up. |
"That’s
the past,
I
would not like
to
get back to it" |
Your exit from Paiyya was much spoken about?
Could you share your side?
That’s the past, I would not like
to get back to it.
You had done an action role in Billa. Are
you interested in more action roles?
Well, it depends, I do not believe in overdoing
anything. In Billa, I got the right blend
of action and other elements. The character
must be proper and portrayed well. However,
I am not too much for action roles. |
|
You have worked in Billa and Aegan with
Ajith. What is your experience with him?
He
is the perfect gentleman and very straightforward
and honest. If he does not like something,
he would say it on the face. I like this
bold quality of his and he is also a sweet
guy. I enjoyed working with him.
Out of all
the characters you have played so far, which
is the one you like the most?
I
like my character in Yaaradi Nee Mohini
as it’s very close to my heart, it
reflects a typical girl’s emotion.
She’s working and independent yet
when it comes to her family, she is a normal
girl. |
"Ajith
is a
perfect
gentleman
who is very
straightforward
and
honest"
|
|
You did not celebrate Christmas at home for the
past 4 years. Why?
I
could not celebrate in a big way because I had
shoots. Every year, the Christmas tree and decorations
are up in my home though. In 2008, I spent it
at home with my parents and enjoyed it. |
"I
do not believe
in
crash dieting
and
don’t
recommend that" |
What is the secret behind your trim physique?
I believe in regular workouts and controlling
my diet. When I shoot at places where a
gym is not available, I am very careful
about my diet. However, I do not believe
in crash dieting and don’t recommend
that as this is bad for health in the long
run.
What kind of clothes do you like?
Generally, I prefer casuals like jeans.
For occasions, I like designer wear, I shop
while abroad and like Valentino and Karen
Mille. |
|
Recently, you and Dhoni have been in the
news as temples are being constructed for
both of you?
I
have just read about that and am not very
sure about it. However, I think temples
should only be built for gods and not for
human beings. I accept the love of my fans
but would ask them to please avoid building
temples as this is not necessary. Poojas
should be kept only for the gods.
Out of all
the characters you have played so far, which
is the one you like the most?
I
like my character in Yaaradi Nee Mohini
as it’s very close to my heart, it
reflects a typical girl’s emotion.
She’s working and independent yet
when it comes to her family, she is a normal
girl.
Who
is your favourite hero?
Rajini
Sir. |
"I
think
temples
should
only
be built
for
gods and
not
for
human
beings"
|
|
You have been in a lot of controversies last year,
yet the media acknowledges you as the Numero Uno?
What’s your take on this?
Well,
someone has to the Number One. One has to be very
dedicated for this. I am honest and think that’s
what has given me the position and fan following.
You
had four big banner releases in 2008, Yaaradi
Nee Mohini, Aegan, Kuselan and Sathyam. How was
2008 for you?
Okay,
I would say, that’s all. Though I had big
banner releases, only Yaaradi Nee Mohini fared
well.
What
will your 2009 be like?
Besides Tamil, I will be seen in Telugu and Malayalam
films as well. I would like a South Indian presence.
About Aadhavan, it’s too early to say anything.
My best Pongal wishes and a happy new year to
all Behindwoods visitors! |
