In
the film word, erecting a set to simulate an
environment is easier than trying to shoot in
the exact location. Primarily, there is no tension
involved in crowd management, which is considered
major deterrent especially when top stars are
involved. Secondly, there is no dearth of creative
talent in the industry who can rise up to any
level of perfection. This indirectly creates
employment for a lot of people. The work of
top-notch art directors like Thotta Tharani,
Sabu Cyril and the likes of such people are
on par with international standards.
Going by these lines, a magnificent set has
been put up in Royapuram for the film ‘Deepavali’
where Jeyam Ravi and Bhavna play the lead. Art
director Selvakumar has recreated a perfect
ambience of a mini town ship of Royapuram with
streets, houses, markets and market places at
the cost of Rs Fifty lakhs. This film is directed
by Ezhil whose penchant for putting up grand
sets is well known in the industry. The twin
bungalow set for his earlier film ‘Poovellam
Un Vaasam’ was much appreciated by everyone
and similarly the set of ‘Deepavali’
is also expected to draw a lot of praise.
