THE CONJURING 2 MOVIE REVIEW
The horror specialist, James Wan, who tasted success with films like Saw, Death Sentence, Insidious, The Conjuring and more, is back with Conjuring 2. This is one of the highly regarded horror franchises in India returning with full of expectations and is also aiming for box office glory yet again.
The Conjuring is one of those Hollywood films that opened up a window for horror genre even in India. Comparatively, The Conjuring 2 is filled with less horrifying moments but it has more intense scenes. The storyline is undeniably engaging and keeps you buzzed right through. But one would surely expect some spooky elements.
The core theme of the film looks pretty much the same as its predecessors. Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine work to help a family terrorized by dark spirits. The story revolves around four kids and a single parent who live in a haunted house in North London. The church sends Ed and Lorraine to have a look if the house is really haunted or if it is just a hoax. No concrete evidence actually proves the existence of any malicious spirit, but the Warren couple knows something is not right and they decide to lend a helping hand to the family. Is it hoax or is the house really haunted? That excitement keeps the audience on their toes.
Patrick Wilson as Ed Warren, Vera Farmiga as Lorraine Warren and Madison Wolfe as Janet Hodgson have played their parts very well. James Wan would be among the best when it comes to horror. His previous works in this genre speak volumes and he continues his great work in The Conjuring 2 as well. But few scenes give us déjà vu as it has been repeated over and over again. That is probably one of the reasons people might find this film to be less scary than it actually is. Nevertheless James Wan has mastered this genre than anyone ever has. His creative imagination has made this film different from the usual horror films. The CGI work at few places seems a little unconvincing and some of the scenes look abruptly cut.
The Conjuring 2 will definitely not disappoint you but if you expect it to be the scariest movie that you are waiting to watch with your fingers closing yours eyes, then, probably, it would not satisfy you completely as it is more intense than spooky.
