Seems like people are just not ready for another
RGV movie after what they experienced with Aag.
Darling is not a repeat of Aag, but it has not
come even close to being called a hit. It might
eventually fold up as an average grosser.
But there seems to have been a gainer amidst
the rut. The multi-starrer slapstick comedy Dhamaal
has managed to pick up after the dull opening.
The low budget and relatively short shooting period
might help the film make profits. Though not a
hit on the lines of Partner or Hey Baby, Dhamaal
keeps the comedy season of Bollywood alive and
kicking for Diwali. Also it gives the rather beleaguered
Sanjay Dutt a reason to smile.
Dhamaal is not a finely crafted comedy but has
enough laughs in it to stifle yawns and make the
viewer go back without any negatives to say. But
clearly Dhamaal has coasted to success on the
path that was blazed by some finely made comedies
earlier this year. Nowadays in Bollywood any comedy
seems to sell, except if it comes from Ramgopal
Verma. He is having a tough time- should meet
his astrologer.
