The movie generated enough buzz to take a thunderous opening but it came as a shocker when Ram Gopal Verma ki Aag opened to a poor response. Even the people who did see movie did not like it. Some critics went ahead and gave the film zero marks, and a famous critic in a news channel threw an egg on the camera just to show how much he disliked the movie.

Amitabh Bachchan, who played the hero in the older version, is playing the baddie in this film. He had been vehemently promoting the movie for the past couple of weeks but when he saw it for the first time he seemed to have detested the movie so much that he is said to have stormed out of the theatre half way through. This is a big blow for Ram Gopal Verma as his another directorial venture Darling is hitting the screens this Friday.
