city
guy can’t help but join the rat race
to find the girls and the diamonds. A chaotic
laugh riot.
That’s what it should be going by
the look, the feel and the cast. Sunil Shetty,
back on screen after the moderately successful
One, Two, Three and Arshad Warsi returning
after the positive run of Krazzy 4- a few
good laughs are guaranteed. And maybe that’s
what film buffs need after a torrid last
week at the cinema halls.
Anamika
A palatial mansion, a wealthy young
man, the newly wed bride, a forgettable
past and bad memories, will things that
were once forgotten occur again? Will the
spirit rise again, will death follow the
footsteps of the new bride? Will darkness
reveal a face that wants to reveal many
a truth? Get ready to be frightened.
Anant Mahadevan returns, this time with
horror. The setting does have the potential
to create a few spine-chilling moments even
though it looks a bit familiar. Dino Morea
and Minnisha Lamba play the lead roles.
Will not be threatened by the other releases
that are not in the same genre.
Pranali
Looking back at the ancient Devadasi
system where women were condemned to a life
of social isolation being used only as instruments
to satisfy the lust of high society men.
One such woman, robbed of her life when
she was still a girl shows the courage to
fight, raise a child and decide her future.
Help comes from places unexpected and silently
one act of courage begins to cure the society.
It’s been quite some time since the
Devadasi system was visited through movies.
Directed by Hirdesh Kamble and produced
by Harward Entertainments, the movie has
Nargis in the lead role. A hard hitting
social drama, the movie is not likely to
set the cash registers ringing but can get
decent viewership in multiplexes with good
reviews and word of mouth.
From Last Week
Tashan
The industry has taken a body blow. Tashan
is a big disappointment and they can’t
stop talking about it. Even the overseas
markets where such big multi starrers generally
do well have given the thumbs down to Tashan
and this sums up things. Going by the look
of things, the credibility of Yashraj has
taken a hit and their next movie better
do well.
Sirf-Life looks greener on the other
side
Great things were never expected and the
movie received just average reviews that
did not help its cause. Tashan (even though
it flopped) and the IPL took away the little
chance that the movie had.
Sneak Preview

Set to release on the 9th of May, this movie

for the kid? More on this next week.
