Now, we are puzzled as to what made Aamir do such a thing. He has never been a man who has tried to attract attention except through his films. He never attends award functions, doesn’t give many interviews, keeps his private life away from the public eye, is not seen at IPL matches (where most of Bollywood is these days). The most he has opened up in his nearly 20 year long career has been his blog. But to post something that even the worst trouble mongers would think twice about is not what we expect from Aamir Khan- the man who envisioned a film like Taare Zameen Par.

Yes, all that was said might have been in jest and the caretakers of the house might have named the pup before Aamir Khan even bought the house, but jest has its boundaries and a man of Aamir’s sensibilities ought to have known it.

Aamir did say those few words on the occasion of the audio launch of his nephew’s debut film. The words were on expected lines about nothing offensive being meant and that he and Sharukh were friends. That it was all in good humor.

Well, lets hope that’s the end of the matter. Let’s treat the blog as an off the cuff post by a man who was in the most playful of moods while holidaying with his family at Panchgani. Otherwise we don’t see any reason for Aamir to do so. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think that Aamir and SRK have any great professional rivalry. They have stayed clear of each other’s path for years now. One is the mast star and the other is the genius- analogous to Rajni and Kamal in Kollywood. That’s the best way to look at things. There are other ways to look at it but then they would all lead to uncomfortable conclusions.

Aamir also said that his hamstring too has healed sufficiently and shooting will resume shortly.
