A day before one of the biggest gangster flicks
ever made in Bollywood was set to release
the biggest jolt in many years hit the industry.
No, it is not the miserable showing of a big
budget, big banner film that has got Bollywood
worrying. This is much more serious; death
threats from the underworld and as no one
would know better than the Bollywood biggies,
when the bad boys say it, they mean it.

Now this means increased security and high alerts for
many names of the industry. The threats have not been
veiled like previous ones. The names that are on the hit
list have been disclosed and the intentions have been
made very clear, the dons want these guys finished.
The threats came from Australia based gangster Ejaz Lakdawala
on Thursday. He revealed it through a telephonic conversation
with a news channel. The names that have been marked out
are that of singer, composer Himesh Reshammiya (music
director of Dasavatharam) and director Rajkumar Santhoshi.
He revealed that an attempt had already been planned on
Himesh when he was in London which could not be executed
due to tight security at the venue. Rajkumar Santhoshi
is being reportedly targeted for non-payment of extortion
money to the gangster unit.
This open declaration of hostility must have come as a
rude shock for Bollywood which might still remember the
cold blooded murder of music magnate Gulshan Kumar in
1997. He was shot down in a barrage of bullets in broad
daylight in busy Mumbai city. No doubt, Bollywood will
be on high alert following this threat. Let’s hope
all turns out well.
