Bollywood’s big summer got off to a
good start with Ta Ra Rum Pum releasing on
the 27th. For inexplicable reasons the film
was slow off the blocks in spite of having
some of the biggest names of Bollywood and
coming from the biggest production house of
the industry. The opening day was close to
30%.

Needless to say, industry sources were baffled and were
apprehensive about other big releases that were waiting
to happen.
However some positive reviews and some very good word
of mouth seems to have given the film the much needed
lift in terms of collections and industry sources are
now breathing easy. Among the factors of the film that
have come in for appreciation are the stunning race scenes,
the now famous Saif-Rani chemistry, the adorable two kids
and the riveting climax. The race scenes are being compared
to Hollywood in terms of quality. The verdict that has
come out is of a complete family entertainer just perfect
for the summer mood.
But, the slow start has stopped the industry from declaring
the movie a hit and the box office status of the film
is still hanging in the air. But, the overseas reports
are yet to arrive and that should in all probability be
in favor of the film. Also looking at the lack of competition
at the box office Ta Ra Rum Pum must gather momentum and
win the race. The next simmer biggie arrives in two weeks
time in the form of Shootout at Lokhandwala.
