What a shocker? When did Mani Ratnam find time to work with Ramgopal Verma, he was busy with Guru and RGV himself has close to half a dozen movies in hand. So when did they get together and that too without making any news at all. The answer is 1993. Yes, they

worked together 14 years back and the movie will release this Friday. Strange isn't it. Well that is because the original movie was made in Telugu titled Gayam starring Jagapathy Babu along with Urmila. Now the producer has decided to dub and re-release the movie in Hindi using the Mani-RGV combine billing.
The movie named, Satya-The Sarkar, a strong reminder of
RGV's biggest directorial successes had been quite a big
hit in Telugu. It had a special appearance by Chiranjeevi.
Ramgopal Verma had directed the movie while Mani Ratnam
had co-scripted it. If this team was a success as far
back as 1993, then it would certainly be great to see
them come together again. Hope they find some time to
do that. Till then be happy with this thirteen year old
team effort of two masters of the art of film making.
Readers might remember that the duo had also got together
in Tamil for Thiruda Thiruda, which was directed by Mani
and co-written by Ram Gopal Verma.
