‘When it rains, it pours’. This
was what happened on the Kaun Banega Crorepati
episode aired on the 26th. Normally, the one
or two contestants who are lucky and quick
enough with their fingers get a chance to
sit on the ‘hotseat’ and have
a crack at the sixteen questions and two crores
on offer.

But on this episode things took a dramatic turn towards
the end as Shahrukh Khan had been hinting throughout.
He had been saying that something that had never ever
happened in the history of Indian television was set to
happen at the end of the show. But no one expected it
to be such a generous gesture.
When SRK first said that one of the nine contestants who
had not made it to the hot-seat would be getting a Hyundai
Santro it sounded quite believable. He said that the remaining
eight would be getting consolation prizes. But as it turned
out to be in the end, the boxes given to each contestant
contained the keys to a Santro. Needless to say, the audience
and participants were equally shocked and overjoyed at
the same time.
However this is by no means going to be a routine at KBC,
the current season of which will come to an end this April.
For all the contestants this was as good as a jackpot.
Till a few moments before receiving the keys they all
had been facing the prospect of going back home empty
handed.
The King has done it once again, he always delights. Whether
it is with his movies, his ads or cars. But it is not
quite clear whose idea this was.
