Two of the biggest production houses, one
belonging to Hollywood and the other from
Bollywood have decided to join forces. Yashraj
films are coming together with Walt Disney
Studios to do what they are best at, make
movies that entertain us. Both these production
houses are arguably the biggest in their industries
and are both steeped in very rich tradition.

The tradition of Walt Disney needs no mention here as
it might be one of the oldest production houses of the
world still in big business.
When these production houses collaborate naturally everyone
will be curious to know what they are up to. Well, this
collaboration will play more to the traditional strong
point of Walt Disney, animation feature films; that’s
how they started off. The joint venture is aimed at producing
a set of animated feature films for a large audience.
Both the studios will contribute equally in all aspects
of the film making process. The first of the series of
planned films will come out in 2008 and has been titled
Roadside Romeo. Adithya Chopra of Yashraj will be producing
will be producing the film while the movie will be written
and directed by Jugal Hansraj. That’s surprising,
this guy was nowhere to be seen since the days of Mohabbatein,
now he resurfaces as a director for this big team.
This certainly will be turning point in Indian cinema
as full length animated feature films have not got the
place that they deserve till now, this could just turn
things around. The Indian audiences have had to satisfy
themselves with English animated features like Shrek and
Ice Age and others. The only Indian product to get noticed
thus far has been Hanuman. However, this time with a heavyweight
like Yashraj involved we can expect a whole new unexplored
market to open up.
