Chennai 28 seems to have sparked off quite
a trend, or are we imagining things. Maybe
the others are unaware of a movie such as
Chennai28 and the event that the crew is holding.
We are talking about Aamir Khan. He will soon
be seen in one of the top shopping malls of
Mumbai playing cricket with his fans.

Remember, Chennai 28 team too is organizing a cricket
tournament to celebrate the success of the movie. But
why is Aamir Khan playing cricket? The reason is the same,
only the movie is different. Aamir and co. will be celebrating
the success of, you guessed it… Lagaan. Which other
movie had cricket featuring prominently? But why on earth
is the success of a movie being celebrated nearly 6 years
after its release when it is no longer in theaters nor
has broken any records. There is an explanation.
The celebration is not of the movie Lagaan. But of another
movie Chale Chalo, the one that was released recently
on DVD that is a sort of a documentary on how Lagaan was
made. This movie was launched on DVD in a special collector’s
edition of Lagaan which contained the movie itself, deleted
scenes all in a specially designed wooden box with a few
pieces of Lagaan memorabilia. Some of you might have heard
of it.
It is very rare that a movie celebrates or relives its
success six years after it was actually released in theaters.
This goes to show how a well made movie can always remain
in the hearts of people. |
