The film has had its share of publicity and is now waiting for the audiences’ response. My Name is Anthony Gonzalves is directed by E. Niwas of Shool fame. It is to be noted that his later ventures Bardaasht and Dum, however, didn’t live up to audience expectations.

News is that this film has been banned in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar following a fiasco over Mithun Chakraborthy refusing to permit a Bhojpuri producer to dub his Bengali film to Bhojpuri. In retaliation to this the Bhojpuri Film Producers Association has decided not to exhibit Hindi films in their state. E. Niwas, the director, is disappointed with this decision, as he claims that this was the state in which his first film Shool was set and not being able to see his film release there is disheartening.
