Mira
Nair seems to be not the one to rest
on her laurels. She is on the verge
of finalizing cast and crew for her
upcoming venture Shantaram and the
industry grapevine suggests that Amitabh
will make his first international
appearance with Shantaram.
The movie, based on the famous book by Gregory
David Roberts that follows a man's life with a
murky past who reaches Mumbai escaping from an
Australian prison, will also have Johnny Depp
in the lead if unconfirmed reports are to be believed.
Amitabh is rumored to don the robe of a mobster
in the movie.
Meanwhile, Mira Nair's Namesake has been premiered
in the Priya Cinema Hall in Kolkatta where parts
of the movie have been shot. Also based on a noted
book by the Indian author Jhumpa Lahiri, Namesake
stars Irrfan Khan, Tabu and Kal Penn in the lead.
Premiere of Namesake will be conducted in the
US after two months, reports stated.
