CC2C forces tougher law

The Nepal Government has decided that stricter rules and regulations should be in place for screening foreign films. The decision came in after Chandini Chowk to China depicted that India is the birthplace of Buddha. The film was eventually banned in Nepal after students protested for the wrong depiction. In yet another development, the Nepal

Film Development Board (NFDB) should also give its assent for the screening of foreign films though it passes the Censor Board.

All the foreign films will have to submit the screenplay, the film’s text and the cast and crew details henceforth. The screenplay, if not in English or Nepali, must be translated, a report says. The posters that are to be displayed in the theatres should be approved as well.
