Ghajini has reached a new, unheard rate
of 100 crores in the distribution segment
and a record number of 1200 prints have
been released for screening. Three hundred
special shows prior to the release of the
film have been scheduled. Bollywood circles
aver that this is the first of its kind
and some multiplex theatres have increased
the ticket rate to be 30% more than the
actual rate. But this fact has not deterred
Amir’s fans from buying the ticket
and all tickets have been sold just after
a few moments from the start of the ticket
sale. Trade pundits predict that Ghajini
will break all existing records in collection
and will mark a new milestone in Bollywood.
Meanwhile the film’s release in Tamil
Nadu alone is stayed by Chennai High Court
for an interim period following a petition
filed by Salem Chandrasekhar who produced
the Tamil version citing that Geetha Arts
company who are producing the film in Hindi
did not obtain the necessary rights from
him to make the film in Hindi. The case
is coming for hearing today.
