MOVIES THIS WEEK:

1. Shaurya
Cast: Rahul Bose, Javed Jafferi, Minnisha Lamba, Kay Kay Menon

Preview:

Set in the Indian army where ambition and duty wage a tug of war in

Shaurya

the minds of men guarding the frontiers, Shaurya is all about finding the courage to stand up for what one thinks is right. Rahul Bose and Javed Jafferi play army advocates; one is serious about being in the army while the other is looking for an opportunity to get away. They handle their biggest case yet as they tackle the iron willed Kay Kay Menon who plays a ruthless senior army officer. Both of them discover their true callings and stand up to the challenge that life throws at them, they find the fire within-Shaurya. Minnisha Lamba plays a brave young lady who is out to uncover truth at any cost.

Music:

Doesn't find much importance in such a movie but the Dheere Dheere number does leave an impression. But the pick is the Shaurya Kya Hai voice over by Shah Rukh which tries to find the real meaning of valor and courage.

2. Brahm

Cast: Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Sheetal Menon

Preview:

Well, director Pawan Kaul has claimed to have made an intense psychological thriller. As it is with such movies very little about the plot has been let out but one hopes it is not love triangle kind of thriller which involves betrayal, murder and a investigation. We have been getting too many of that kind in the recent past. Of course, with a star cast like this we cannot rule out that possibility. However, one thing we can be sure of is that the outfits and accessories worn by the cast will be in vogue, after all aren't all three supermodels.

Music:

There is energy and verve but also a certain predictability, haven't we heard this kind of a song before, feeling. You will like Jaane Kaise Hai, Teri aankho ki and Laagdaa for their beats.

3. Khuda Kay Liye

Cast: Fawad Khan, Alex Edwards, Naseeruddin Shah

Preview:

Set in a post 9/11 world that is torn apart by doubt and mistrust. Khuda Kay Liye tells us how Muslims in different parts of the world suffer isolation due to the violence stemming out of a few radical groups. The story is told through the lives of two brothers who love music but are forced to part from it by extremist groups, how their ways separate and one goes on to become an active extremist. The movie has received very positive critical response from many festivals across the world and has also created a minor flutter in Pakistan.

MUSIC THIS WEEK:

1. Tashan

Music Director: Vishal-Shekhar

An album designed to match the style quotient of the movie. Yashraj rarely disappoints with music. The songs you will like

Chhaliya:

An energetic foot tapping number aptly rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan. You will definitely enjoy this one.

Falak Tak

A romantic number that can really relax you, a pleasant surprise in a movie that you thought will be all style. The song reminds you of the late 80s early 90s love numbers with those mushy lyrics. Certainly worth hearing.

Tashan Mein

Must be the theme song of Tashan. Its all style, attitude and everything else the movie is supposed to be about, though you can't deny a Sufi/Punjabi slant in certain areas.

Also the four Tashan commentaries do sound short and crisp.
