SOLO BRATHUKE SO BETTER CAST & CREW
Production: B. V. S. N. Prasad Cast: Nabha Natesh, Sai Dharam Tej Direction: Subbu Music: S Thaman Cinematography: Venkat C Dilip Editing: Naveen Nooli Distribution: Zee Studios

Solo Brathuke So Better - literally means one should not miss the joy of being single is a light-hearted offering of debutant director Subbu. The happy tidings is in the entire Telugu industry coming forward to support the project in these challenging times.

The plot is nothing new as there had been spate of Indian movies which had made capital use of the plot. Here, the protagonist, Sai Dharam Tej is a happy-go-lucky youth, totally against the concept and institution of marriage. For him, the relationship is also taboo, not heeding to the advice of his friends on the prevalent live-in concept.

Getting into the job mode helps Tej understand the nuances of life, enlightened by the challenges which life throws him at every turn. Predictably, a girl enters his life - Nabha Natesha's amazing screen presence lifting the plot to a new high.

The twists are one too many which an average movie-goer will not find difficult to hazard a guess. The last minute cancellation of Nabha's wedding is too easy to smell, she suddenly having a crush on You-Know-Who.

To Tej's credit, he has handled a seemingly difficult character with an assurance of a seasoned hand. Aimed primarily at the teens, the dialogues do have the spark and ammunition to engage an audience.

The well-oiled hand of Rao Ramesh as Tej’s uncle brings to the fore the emotional chords and the values of a relationship. Rajendra Prasad and Naresh play their parts unflinchingly. Satya’s comedy is contrived and is not quite fitting in the scheme of things.

In picking a story connecting with everyone, debutant director Subbu is well endowed with his narration and screenplay. That he could have done away with the routine formula template is a point not to be missed. There was scope to put his thinking cap on but then he has played it safe.

Mention must be made of Venkat Dilip's eye-catching visuals and the slick editing of Navin Nooli. Helped by the tried and trusted music of S Thaman, the just two-hour flick falls between the joy of Christmas and the New Year ahead.

Verdict: Solo Brathuke So Better might bank on the tried and tested formula but works its magic as an apt Christmas carol.
