Produced
by K.E.Gnanavelraja and directed by Hari,
this movie, Suriya’s 25th one, is
being distributed by Sun Pictures. We
have Suriya, Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj,
Nasser, Vivek, Manorama and others starring
in it. Suriya dons the role of a cop.
Devi Sri Prasad joins hands with Suriya
here (after ‘Maayavi’ and
‘Aaru’) where the music department
is concerned. The filming seems to have
been done in the southern districts of
Tamilnadu, Hyderabad, Vizag and Dubai.
Naane Indhiran..
Vocals: Benny,Manicka
Vinayagam
Lyrics: Viveka
Full of swagger and self-assurance, this
song may just whip up the tempo of the
movie and add colour to Suriya’s
histrionics. Nothing more. Is it the Shehnai
that we hear?
En Idhayam...
Vocals: Suchitra, Tippu

A soft husky song and Suchitra does most of the singing.
This song does have a ‘heard-before’ mettu,
but the stylish guitars keeps you somewhat focused.
The sweet anguish of a woman just falling in love.
On the Natabairavi scale.
Stole my Heart...
Vocals: Shaan, Megha
Lyrics: Viveka
A wannabe rock number set amusingly in Mohana raga
scale, but uses the ‘ni’ swara too. Plenty
of guitars and drums. But will Shaan’s voice
suit Suriya? Let us see! Could climb the charts.
Kadhal
Vandhale...
Vocals: Baba Seghal, Priyadarshini
Lyrics: Viveka
An amusing sequel to the famous Sankarabaranam number’
Vaada Maappilley’ from Villu. Baba Seghal’s
enthusiasm is cute and the quirky instrumentation
which DSP is famous for is seen here! Again, could
just have a shot at the charts.
Singam
Singam...
Vocals: DSP, Megha
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar, Megha
Starts off very ambitiously, heavy guitars and all
that. When you hear ‘singam singam- - -‘you
just shake your head in amusement. It’s entirely
upto Suriya to add purpose to this tickling number.
Stole
my Heart( Unplugged)...
Lyrics: Director Hari
Unplugged? This? Anyway, some sprightly instrumental
usage (keyboard and guitar) makes this nice to listen
to.
Verdict:
Well, is this movie a sort of comic caper or is it
a serious one? Devi Sri Prasad’s music confuses
us quite a bit. DSP seems to have willed himself to
project some ‘hip’ stuff here which is
lighthearted too. |
