Singam
Puli is one of the latest movies to feature
in music stores. Jiiva and Divya Spandana
star in the movie which has been directed
by Sai Ramani. Music has been scored by
Mani Sharma who has given numerous hits
in Tamil and Telugu. It would be exciting
to listen and know what the album has
to offer.

Figaru...
Vocals: Naveen
Lyrics: Viveka
The album starts on an interesting note and the raga
scale changes after the intro. The song is peppy but
Viveka's lyrics leaves much to desire about. Looks
like an introduction to the hero! The song uncharacteristically
slows down in the middle sections. A possible favorite
among teenagers!
Poove Poove...
Vocals: Rahul Nambiar
Lyrics: Viveka
Poove Poove is a melody sung by Rahul, who has given
life to the song. The simple arrangements used in
the song makes it all the more interesting. The song
captures our attention like the heroine who has captured
the hero's heart in the movie.
Varrale...
Vocals: Ranjith, Sainthavi
Lyrics: Annamalai
And here we go: the expected Kuthu number. This one
takes off right from the word go! Ranjith and Sainthavi's
voices complement the high energy evident in the music.
Varrale… could just be the perfect song to showcase
Jiiva's dancing skills.
Kangalal...
Vocals: Karthik,
Rita
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
The first few moments of the song makes us inquisitive
about what lies ahead. Karthik and Rita, along with
Na. Muthukumar, do make this song worthy. But Mani
Sharma loses track again in the middle sections, as
in the first, with a mish-mash of musical experiments,
rap et al thus leaving a faint impression after listening
to it.
Ullasame...
Vocals: Ranjith, Janani
Lyrics: Sai Ramani
Synthesizers in full flow here! A fast, high octane
number that has Ranjith singing and Janani adding
English touch to it. Mani Sharma has used the electric
guitar sounds in the middle to optimum effect. Ullasame
can be heard on air many times just for the pace of
the song.
Naadilla...
Vocals: Mukesh
Lyrics: Viveka
This song is for the Singam or Puli (the one who leads
a carefree life). Mani Sharma has not made this a
usual kuthu number by adding western notes to it.
We get a feeling that this is to complement the first
song of the album. A neat finish to the album!
Verdict:
Singam Puli is definitely not bad as an album. It
has all the ingredients for a mass entertainer: Kuthu
song, fast paced numbers and a melody too. Mani Sharma
has usually struck the right chord with the audience
with such albums in the past. This one may not be
called as one of his best but has the ability to make
people dance to his tunes. |
