Krishnaveni Panjaalai focuses on the lives of mill workers and the various hardships faced by them. There is also a love story with Hemachandran and Nandana in the lead roles. Music has been scored by NR Ragunathan of 'Thenmerku Paruvakaatru' fame. The team behind this movie is almost entirely new and let's see what the music of this movie has to offer. Un Kankal... Raman Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal Lyrics: Thamarai A pleasant sounding melody with foot tapping beats. Shreya Ghoshal brings in her standard brand of freshness and charm which we have gotten used to. We have a relatively new male singer Raman Mahadevan. Has some decent instrumental interludes and haunting female humming. On the whole, a song that never changes gear and is a passable melody. The same number is repeated again in the album to make it five in all. Aalaikari... Vijay Prakash Lyrics: Vairamuthu Vijay Prakash sounds nasal and in the high pitch. A letdown, given his potential and the hits he has been churning out in the recent times. A folksy melody that talks about the mill and all its machines that give the village laborers their livelihood. The lovely lyrics by Vairamuthu lift the number. Aathadi... Harish Raghavendra, Chithara Lyrics: Chithran Harish Raghavendra comes back after a small hiatus. His style of singing hasn’t changed though. Chithara seems to be a promising newbie on the block who needs a bit more sharpening. A pretty straightforward melody with good instrumental interludes before the 2nd stanza. Have heard such melodies in similar village based movies in the past. Rojamalaiye... Jassie Gift Lyrics: Vairamuthu Starts akin to a rock song then proceeds to be a typical folk number with pleasant flute and Indian string interludes. Jassie Gift returns with his unorthodox style. Another passable number but nothing special.
Verdict: An album that has some decent numbers but doesn't have any outstanding song as such. The movie's result might make the songs popular. Till then, the verdict is reserved.
