Arya, Santhanam and Premgi reprise the roles of the three friends who made Delhi Belly an instant cult classic. Directed by Kannan, Settai has Anjali and Hansika playing female leads.

With relatively lesser shows as the weeks have progressed, Settai is settling into the above average league.

Isn’t Tamil cinema ready for adult comedies or is it that the directors don’t feel the need to graduate the viewers for fear of repercussions by the moral police?

Completely stripped of its adult content that made it sort of a cult debonair film in Bollywood, Settai is a clinical version of Delhi Belly directed by Kannan starring Arya, Santhanam, Premgi, Anjali and Hansika.

Collections have not been phenomenal over the weekend but the movie is holding on to the charts since there are no competitors in sight.

Anjali is the latest of actors coming out in public with a torture accusation against their own family. 

One of the very few adult comedies to have worked in mainstream Bollywood, Delhi Belly is remade as Settai but it’s stripped off its adult content and the movie is made to fit into the ‘family audience’ bracket. Directed by Kannan, Settai has Arya, Santhanam and Hansika in the lead.

The movie managed to pull off a good opening and it is met with average reviews. Since the Arya – Santhanam team worked well last time; it is likely that the movie will be bailed out financially.

Release time couldn’t have been better for Settai – school holidays will work well for the movie’s box office prospects.
