Saithan is an upcoming psychological thriller starring Vijay Antony and Arundhati Nair in lead roles.

The album gets a jazzy beginning with a cool number which has great resemblance to Dildara from SRK starrer Ra-One in terms of the rhythm . The breezy orchestration and flawless singing by Yazin Nazir set the stage for a relaxing ballad. The electric guitar touches are quite impressive as well. But the repetitive beats make it  monotonous.

An eerie number with quirky vocals and scary sounds arrives next. The ominous beats, slow progression of rhythm and power packed vocals suit the song’s ambience. The electric guitars also make their strong presence felt throughout. The song also has a philosophical bent with Carnatic Raaga Panthuvarali strongly heard throughout. The fusing of classical flavours with Hard Rock is a good experiment.

Now a relaxing melody from the fresh vocals of Vijay Antony himself gives a melodious bent to the album. The grand piano touches with mild rhythmic effects are quite good. The song breathes freshness and innocence in terms of presentation and vocals. The interludes have a blend of anticipation as well as swiftness but lacks the refreshing flavour required for the song.

The eerie mode is back in the vocals of Chinna Ponnu along with Vijay Antony . The song manages to bring a dark effect and chills to the album but lacks novelty. The tune progression is quite eerie and Chinna Ponnu delivers her best with her raw rendition and passionate vocals. The presence of western harmonic minor scale does the right job for this song’s theme.

A swift instrumental track with power packed chorus and thumping rhythm section gives much punch to the album. The electric guitars build the tension gradually and the Indian flavors are evident in the track too.

The eeriest track Jayalakshmi’s instrumental version arrives in style during the finale. The slow beats progress flawlessly with the shades of Raaga Panthuvarali moving in modern sounding.
