MEENDUM ORU KADHAL KADHAI MOVIE REVIEW
Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai is a remake of the Malayalam movie, Thattathin Marayathu, which had positive responses. Will Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai have a similar response? Read more to find out……
Meendum Oru Kadhal Kathai is a love story between a Hindu guy and a Muslim girl. What are the problems they face due to their religious differences? Do they finally triumph is what forms the rest of the movie.
With a story that we are quite accustomed to, the director has tried to add a few fresh sparks that would make it breezy. There are a handful of these moments here and there, like the references to the Hindu-Muslim unity that are reflected through various scenes. But barring these, other instances have a melodramatic shade to it. They have churned out an extra dosage of feel good add-ons that feel nauseatingly sweet. The dialogues carry the taste of a long lost vocal poem and maybe simpler heart-felt cuts would have done the trick. We have all seen quite a lot of films where the lover raises his hands to the air when they fall for the girl. We have all witnessed quite a handful of love stories where the hero is dumbstruck because of the beauty of the lass. If such tried sequences had been avoided, it would have made this a more interesting watch.
The visuals are splendid. Vishnu Sharma lets his skill speak through his lenses and it definitely deserves a special mention. Painting a vivid picture, the visuals carry a pleasant feel. GV’s music has aided the scenes well enough, although the frequent outbursts of songs could have been cut down. The editing is coherent and neat.Special credit to Tuney John (24 AM ) for the designs. They definitely stand out. The art director Viji is promising.
A good debut by Walter Philips. Isha Talwar has done a decent job. Arjunan's comedy has worked at a few places. The characterization of supporting roles played by Nasseer, Thalaivasal Vijay and Manoj.K.Jayan lack detail.
Overall, although the director has managed to give an apt first half, the second half looks vaguely stagnant. If the director had addressed this, the movie could have had a better connect with the audience.
