TAMIL MOVIE RELEASE EXPECTATION

Malayalam cinema woke up to a neatly crafted and executed thriller drama in 2011 when the movie Traffic released. Traffic uses multiple narratives surrounding a single incident and the narratives switch back and forth to reveal the incidents leading to the culmination. Owing to this style, Traffic was acclaimed in Malayalam and the remake rights have since been sold to Kannada, Hindi and Tamil.

In its Tamil version, Chennaiyil Oru Naal, the movie is directed by Shahid Kader. The movie's ensemble cast includes Sarathkumar & Raadhika, Prakash Raj, Cheran, Prasanna, Parvathi Menon, Nassar, Rohini and Suriya in a cameo. The movie's incidents happen in a day and there is mystery, crime, thrilling action to save a life and some politics in the movie.

The producers have also retained Mejo Joseph as the musician for the movie. The editor Mahesh Narayanan, whose editing came in for praise, is reprising his role in Chennaiyil Oru Naal. The movie has received a lot of press owing to its publicity and the subsequent curiosity it seemed to have generated.

Produced by Raadhika and Listin, Chennaiyil Oru Naal will be a different experience to Tamil fans if it retains its fast-paced narrative style that made the Malayalam version a cult hit. Releasing this Friday, the movie stands good chance to be received positively by fans in Tamil.
