Balle Vellaiya Thevaa is an upcoming comedy film starring M.Sasikumar, Tanya and Kovai Sarala in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Darbuka Siva.

An essentially feel good number sung by the very talented Haricharan paves the way for the album’s beginnings. The velvety blues feel of the 80s is clearly heard in the song and the interesting usage of guitar and the keyboard is quite appealing. The tune is instantly hummable and also has a folk dimension to it.  Sanjana does a good job joining this experimental musical feast. The interludes are equipped with lazed out trumpets which set the late night listening mode with all ease!

On the contrary, here is a feisty alternative rock number with supreme usage of live drums and electric guitars. Interestingly, the lead vocals follow the folk style while the orchestration is quite modern. Arunraja Kamaraj’s lyrics are quite conversational and this experiment strikes the bull’s eye with mastery. The song never falters in the energy levels and the interludes also have electronic Sitar solo which is quite racy.

A beautiful rustic folk number begins with amazing rendering of nadaswaram and the thavil usage takes the listener to the village style wedding atmosphere of Madhurai in the so called modern terms. Sathyaprakash does a commendable job with his sweet sounding vocals and the celebrating percussions are a huge plus. The interludes also have an impressive toss of acoustic guitar as a support for the native nadaswaram!

The folk number which managed to strike the chord gets a modern twist with digital sequencing and loops in this version. The song sounds even more fun and appealing with these additional touches. Watch out for the bass work which tantalizes the listener with its impressive journey. The electric guitar solo in the first interlude is quite fun to hear.
