Dhanush and Shruti Haasan’s characters fall madly in love while still in school. Later, the female protagonist literally burns up her family’s dreams and future because she wants to make a life for herself with the boy she loves. Some lauded the film for its celebration of innocence while many, especially parents found this sort of glorification of immaturity brought on by raging hormones objectionable.
