Kadhalagi could easily be passed off as a boy-meet-girl-falls-in-love
story, had the director not deviated from the
formulaic path. He introduced the caste quotient
in the script and made it play spoilsport in
the fairy tale love story. What makes the movie
interesting is the lead pair’s clever
ways to overcome the hostile clan.
