It
is a male-dominated industry no doubt and heroines
more often than not have precious little to do besides
look pretty, get their shimmy on, and scream in the
right places. It was marginally better in the 80s
when leading ladies like Revathi, Nadia, Saritha,
and Radhika did films where the female protagonists
were strong women who stood up to their men. Many
modern day actresses sleep walk through their roles
and don’t even bother with proper diction. But
every so often, a film does come along that gives
the female lead a chance to shine and steal the thunder
from their male counterparts. Let’s take a look
at such heroines who shook up the system. |
