Eeram directed by Arivazhagan and featuring Aadhi in a breakthrough performance did not resort to cheap gimmicks to scare the audience. Rather the horror in Eeram was subtle and was present in all things, water. The scariest thing about Eeram was not the supernatural elements which were spooky enough but the fact that the film revealed with startling clarity that the real monsters lurk in the darkest corners of human nature with its infinite capacity for evil.
